//Notes
Did you know that several Mercedes models are fitted with Renault engines? That is not necessarily a bad thing: the well-known 1.5 dCi (K9K) has proven its reliability and durability for years, as long as it is properly maintained.
In our case, a Mercedes A160d W176 with 90 factory horsepower came in for dyno testing and a remap. The initial measurement showed 86 hp and 220 Nm, slightly below expectations. High ambient temperatures, a slightly loaded DPF and fuel quality are all factors that can affect a diesel engine's output.
After the necessary diagnostic check we found the car to be mechanically excellent and went ahead with the ECU remap. The result: 128 hp and 295 Nm, with much better acceleration, easier overtaking and greater flexibility, without sacrificing engine reliability.
