Can a 2,200 cc Mercedes diesel really produce just 120 hp? It can. Back then, several versions were sold with low factory output, offering economy, reliability and often lower running costs. The owner of this W204 C180 CDI came to us with a simple complaint: he was tired of how the car felt and wanted it to feel lively again. In stock form it measured 120 PS and 290 Nm on the dyno. With the Microchips Tuning Stage 1 software it reached 185 PS and 425 Nm, a gain of +65 PS and +135 Nm. The difference on the road is impressive, with much better throttle response, strong acceleration from low revs and considerably more power for every overtake. The large increase in torque transforms the engine's character, making it feel like a completely different car.
