//Notes
The 1.0 TSI with 86 factory horsepower is a small engine in a relatively heavy car, and in the Golf 7 a bit more power is certainly welcome. Volkswagen also offers the same engine in a 116hp version, with the difference lying essentially in the calibration. But we didn't stop there. On our dyno the Golf made 88 hp and 165 Nm. After the remap it reached 135 hp and 218 Nm, a gain of +47 hp and +53 Nm. The air-fuel ratio chart is interesting too. The factory map keeps the engine relatively lean at low and mid revs, and around 3,500 rpm it enriches the mixture to manage rising exhaust gas temperatures before leaning out again. We chose a more linear and progressive fuelling strategy, from low revs all the way to the limiter, rather than simply adding boost. On the road the difference is even more noticeable: the Golf now has the response, torque and power it was missing.
