Hyundai i20 N 1.6L T-GDi 204hp

When the Hyundai i20 N with the 204hp 1.6 turbo engine first came out, there was no communication protocol yet for its ECU, and the quickest tuning solution was a piggyback module. Since then many of these cars with piggyback modules have been on our dyno and, unfortunately, the claimed outputs of 240 and 245 hp were never confirmed. Full programming of the factory ECU is now possible, with proper control of all engine systems. This car arrived with a piggyback module and a cone air filter. With the piggyback fitted it made 221 hp and 314 Nm. After we removed it, it measured 201 hp and 310 Nm stock. With our own remap the result was 238 hp and 368 Nm. The chart clearly shows the difference: the piggyback added very little power at the top end with no real torque gain, while a proper remap transformed the car across the whole rev range, with full and smooth curves.
