//Notes
A story to laugh and cry about. The customer had fitted an exhaust about a year earlier, and since then the problems began: unstable idle, higher fuel consumption and generally very poor engine running. He went to three different workshops, which all came to the same conclusion: 'it needs a remap and it will sort itself out'.
In the end it didn't need a remap to run properly, but someone to open the bonnet and see what was really going on. A spacer had been fitted to the front lambda sensor, causing incorrect mixture readings, no fuel correction and poor engine running. The spacer was removed and from the first drive the car ran smoothly.
We then carried out our remap. Stock, it measured 123 ps and 208 Nm, and with Stage 1 it reached 150 ps and 267 Nm. The car now runs as it should, with no misfires, no hesitation and correct behaviour across the range.
To everyone fitting exhausts: do not put a spacer on the front lambda sensor, or you will damage the engine.
